1. Public awareness program.
Cancer Society Nepal has conducted different public awareness programs in past with local level community within Kathmandu and out of Kathmandu.Local community has shown very keen interest about cancer. They are very curious about cancer. More than fifty thousands people have taken benefit from such program.
Community Cancer control encompasses activities at the local, district or national level, which have a positive impact on the entire spectrum of prevention, early detection, effective treatment, survival, and quality of life related to fulfill its mission to save lives and diminish suffering from cancer through community based programs aimed at reducing the risk of cancer, detecting cancer as early as possible, and empowering people facing cancer to cope with the disease and maintain the highest possible quality of life.
2 Prevention:
Primary cancer prevention means taking the necessary precaution to prevent the occurrence of cancer in the first place. The Society’s prevention programs focus primarily on breast cancer, pap-smear test, and public awareness program about cancer, making awareness about early signs of cancer, organizing cancer screening camp in remote area of Nepal, training to school teachers etc, through the active participation of local level communities in Nepal.
Since Breast and Cervix cancer are found in a high number in women, and comes at late stage for treatment. CSN is focusing its prevention activity to educate the people regarding early diagnosis and treatment. |
